This is Ersa, one of my two cats. I photograph them every day with whatever's in reach: big cameras, small ones, film, the phone. They're used to it by now, and I'm fairly sure they roll their eyes the second I look away. This one came from the phone, on one of those rare days when the light was even, she held still, and there was probably a treat involved.

Up this close she stops being a cat portrait: white fur, one gray marking, a green eye holding a small square of window light, and the edge of her nose. The crop does the rest, turning it into something closer to an abstract than pet photography.

Quiet enough for a home office, and a good conversation starter in a living room, once people work out what they're looking at.
